A Step by Step Guide to Your Telehealth Appointment

Step 1 – Phone Call With Nurse

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Before your scheduled telehealth appointment, a nurse from Alliance Xpress Urgent Care will call you to ask some basic questions, the same as when you speak with a nurse in the office before meeting with a practitioner.

Be prepared to discuss any symptoms, concerns or questions during this call.

The nurse may also ask you to:

  • Take your temperature using a thermometer at home
  • Weigh yourself (if you have a scale at home)
  • Take a blood pressure reading (if you have an at-home monitor and cuff)

Step 2 – Log In to Your Appointment

Enter the web address into your browser (you can use a laptop, tablet or mobile phone), type in your name and you’ll see the virtual waiting room. You may be asked to grant access to your camera and microphone when you log on.

While you’re there you can:

  • See if your provider is logged on
  • Send a message to your provider
  • Perform a “pre-call test” on your machine to ensure video and audio are working
  • Contact Doxy.me support for any technical issues

Soon you will see a loading screen, indicating that your provider has joined the appointment. Step 3 – Speak With Your Provider

Your provider will talk about your concerns, ask questions and offer solutions.

A telehealth appointment is ideal for minor issues such as allergies, UTIs, pink eye, rashes, and upset. Chronic conditions, acute injuries (like a broken bone) or any condition requiring a test will be better suited for an in-person appointment.
